Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua are disputing Didier Drogba’s move to Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Former Chelsea goal machine Drogba reportedly signed for Gala earlier this week, having grown frustrated with the poor standard of football in China.
Yet while even Shenhua’s fans have admitted in the past few days that Drogba was being shackled in Shanghai and needed to split, the club does not feel the same way.
They say that Drogba’s decision to quit is in violation of his contract with them, and that they are ready to pursue the matter with Fifa.
"The club is deeply shocked," Chinese Super League team Shenhua said in a statement on its website.
"Drogba is still a Shanghai Shenhua Football Club member as the contract between the two parties is still within its period of validity.
"The Shanghai Shenhua Football Club is ready to gather evidence and submit the findings to Fifa in order to protect its interests."
Drogba is currently on international duty with Cote d’Ivoire at Afcon 2013 in South Africa.
And the last thing the iconic striker needs is to be distracted in his bid to lead the tournament favourites to the title at his last bite that the continental cherry.
