Serie A Wrap

Torino 3-2 Siena: The visitors continue to prop up the league table despite giving their hosts a late scare. Torino led comfortably at the break having netted three times through Matteo Brighi, Rolando Bianchi and Alessio Cerci, with Reginaldo having notched a solitary goal for the Bianconeri. Michele Paolucci put his side within one goal before former Torino midfielder Alessandro Rosina missed his spot kick in the final minute.

Cagliari 2-1 Genoa: The hosts mounted a late comeback that sees them go clear of the relegation zone. Cagliari had the better of the play but went behind to Eros Pisano’s header. Marco Sau wasted no time in finding an equaliser and Daniele Conti reversed the deficit with a late header.

Catania 1-0 AS Roma: The visitor’s dreadful run continued as they fell short at the Stadio Angelo Massimino. Alejandro Gomez's second-half goal was all that separated the sides as Roma crashed to a third defeat in four games.

Lazio 2-0 Atalanta: The hosts moved to within three points of league leaders Juventus as they earned a win over 10-man Atalanta. Sergio Floccari scored for the second-place side and Davide Brivio's own-goal increased their advantage. Carlos Carmona saw red late on as he picked up two cautions in quick succession.

Napoli 3-0 Palermo: The visitors slipped to their third straight defeat as third-place Napoli continue to reel in leaders Juventus. Edinson Cavani is one away from reaching a century of Serie A goals but failed to net against his former club. Instead the goal scoring burden was shouldered by Christian Maggio with Gokhan Inler doubling the advantage before the break. Lorenzo Insigne put the game out of reach in the second half.

Udinese 3-1 Fiorentina: The hosts recovered from a first half own goal from Zeljko Brkic as they gained ground on the day’s opponents thanks to a brace from Antonio Di Natale. The veteran forward scored from the spot on the stroke of half time before adding another in the second half. Luis Muriel scored soon after the second to put some daylight between the two sides.
