Serie A Sunday Wrap

It was an action packed Sunday in the Serie A with 20 goals scored across eight games as Genoa, Atalanta, Cagliari, Juventus and Fiorentina registered wins.

The first game of the day saw Genoa run out 2-0 winners over Verona thanks to first half goals from Daniele Portanova and Juraj Kucka.

The result leaves Genoa in seventh place on the table with 17 points from their 12 league games while Verona dropped to sixth position on 22 points.

Atalanta moved up to ninth place thanks to a 2-1 win over Bologna. All the goals came in the second half as Davide Brivio gave the home side the lead before Ronaldo Bianchi levelled matters for Bologna only for Marko Livaja to score the winner in the 94th minute, with the last kick of the match. Bologna sit in 16th place.

Cagliari also scored late to secure a 2-1 win over Torino with Daniele Conti completing his brace in the 89th minute to bag the three points for his side. The win saw Cagliari move up to 13th on the league table while Torino dropped below them into 14th place.

Chievo and AC Milan played to a goalless draw while both the Parma versus Lazio game and the Roma versus Sassuolo match ended 1-1.

The 0-0 draw for Milan sees them continue to struggle in the league as they occupy tenth place while Chievo still occupy the bottom spot on the table.

For Parma, they occupy 11th place while Lazio sit three points better off and three places higher on the table in eighth place with 16 points.

A late equaliser by Domenico Berardi, scoring in the 95th minute for Sassuolo saw them salvage a point and move out of the relegation zone into 17th place with ten points while Roma still occupy the top of the table with 32 points.

Juventus were able to secure second place on the table with an emphatic 3-0 win over Napoli thanks to goals from Fernando Llorente, Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba. Juventus now sit on 31 points, one behind Roma and three ahead of Napoli in second place.

In the final game of the night a first half brace from Giuseppe Rossi saw Fiorentina beat Sampdoria 2-1 which sees them rise to fifth place on the table while Sampdoria sit in the relegation zone in 18th place.
