Atalanta 2-1 Lazio: Luca Cigarini’s volley put the hosts in front before the interval before Brayan Perea levelled for Lazio. The visitors looked most likely to score and grab an important away win as Lazio committed too many men forward and German Denis took the ball round Marchetti before scoring into the empty goal. The win takes Atalanta above AC Milan and their hosts into seventh after their fourth victory of the season.
Genoa 2-1 Chievo Verona: An Alberto Gilardino brace was enough to claim all three points for the hosts as they moved out the relegation zone. Gilardino opened the scoring with a header in the 22nd minute but Simone Bentivoglio equalised two minutes after the break for the visitors. Gilardino then grabbed his second of the match in the 50th minute, when Simone Bentivoglio’s clearance struck the forward in the face and landed up in the back of the net.
Hellas Verona 3-2 Parma: Hellas Verona came from behind to beat Parma thanks to two penalties from Brazilian Jorginho. Fabrizio Cacciatore gave the hosts the lead after he took advantage of a failed clearance to strike a right-footed shot from 12 yards past Parma goalkeeper Pavol Bajza. Parma then equalised 10 minutes later when Parolo's fierce strike from 30 yards beat Verona keeper Rafael. Cassano then put the visitors ahead with a well struck volley in the 25th minute. The comeback started when Luca Toni was brought down in the box and Jorginho slotted home a 61st minute penalty. The Brazilian then won and converted his second penalty in the 88th minute to hand Verona their fifth win of the season.
Livorno 1-2 Sampdoria: Sampdoria grabbed their first win of the season as they beat Livorno at the Armando Picchi. Lorenzo De Silvestri was brought down inside the area by Alfred Duncan and Citadin Eder scored from the penalty spot for the visitors with 19 minutes played. Substitute Luca Siligardi then drew level for Livorno in the 90th minute and looked to have earned a point for the hosts, until Sampdoria substitute Nicola Pozzi's stoppage-time penalty earned the visitors all three points.
Sassuolo 2-1 Bologna: The home side grabbed their first Serie A win of the season and left Bologna stuck at the bottom of the log after grabbing an important victory. Domenico Berardi was fouled by Andrea Mantovani in the area and the striker made no mistake with the spot-kick in the 12th minute. The hosts doubled their lead five minutes later when striker Antonio Floro Flores had a deflected shot beat Bologna keeper Gianluca Curci. The referee then awarded Bologna a penalty after Jonathan Rossini held Cesare Natali in the area, and Alessandro Diamanti slotted home from the spot with 34 minutes played. There were no goals scored in the second-half as Sassuolo held on for the win and moved up to 18th place on the log.
