Rooney Credits Moyes For Good Form

It’s ironic that the greatest success David Moyes has achieved so far at Manchester United is the rehabilitation of Wayne Rooney.

The two men had been at loggerheads for years, but appear to have buried the hatchet to the benefit of Rooney’s excellent form.

Last season, Wazza was benched and played out of position by Alex Ferguson, and United cruised to the Premier League title.

This season, Moyes has rekindled Rooney’s fire as a striker, yet the Red Devils are languishing in eighth spot on the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Arsenal.

Not one for the subtleties of irony however, burly hit-man Rooney says he feels reborn under Moyes this season.

He was at the centre of United’s win over Real Sociedad on Wednesday night, and garnered praise from his manager.

And in turn, Rooney has credited Moyes and his coaching staff for coaxing him back to life.

"The new coaching staff have come in and it's really a new lease of life," Rooney told Sky Sports after his star turn against Sociedad.

"I'm really enjoying working under David Moyes and his staff. I feel like I am in the prime of my career, I feel good, I feel fit and I am just enjoying my football."

Moyes must also be credited with United’s win in the Champions League.

The former Everton manager is on a steep learning curve in the competition, but Rooney says he and his team-mates were on song last night.

"We played some great football and should have won by three or four goals, maybe even five," he said.

"We fully deserved the win, our defending was particularly good and, though we should have had more goals, three points was obviously the most important thing.”

Now if only United can start getting right in the Premier League.
