Ronaldinho Set To Join Besiktas

Ronaldinho is set to return to European football, reportedly on a two and a half year deal with Turkish club Besiktas.

Respected Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf has reported that the Brazilian legend and former Barcelona star is set to sign on a free transfer and will earn over 10 million Pounds during his stint.

With six months to go before the 2014 World Cup, the 33 year old will hope to impress Luiz Felipe Scolari enough to win a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad.

He has been in superb form in South America, scoring 17 goals in 36 games in the past year, and also getting 11 assists, and was named the 2013 South American Player of the Year by El Pais, the Uruguayan newspaper.

Besiktas are currently fourth in the Turkish Super League, and a Besiktas board member confirmed the negotiations, saying the deal was close to completion.

Ronaldinho’s brother Roberto de Assis admitted that the parties had been negotiating for the past few months.
