Bayern Munich’s clinical winger Arjen Robben is out for six weeks with a knee injury sustained in his side’s 2-0 victory at Augsburg in the German DFB Cup.
The Champions League holder confirmed the injury today at the club's website.
"Robben has sustained a deep laceration extending into the knee joint," said Bayern doctor Muller-Wohlfahrt.
Robben who had scored a brace in Munich's recent 2-0 weekend victory, said: "Obviously I'm bitterly disappointed. I've been in such good form and really looking forward to every game with our team but now this has happened."
"However, I'll return fully fit and re-join the team as we pursue the targets we've set ourselves for the season."
The Dutchman had a another great first 15 minutes in the Cup game and scored the opener for his team, but had to be replaced in the 16th minute after a rude foul.
Mueller replaced the winger, but after Robben’s substitution Pep’s Munich motor stuttered a little bit and the coach had to wait until the 78th minute when Mueller scored the 2-0.
In the other DFB Cup matches Bundesliga sides Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Frankfurt all kept the upper hand against their opponents.
