Southampton forward, Rickie Lambert, is expected to undergo a medical at Liverpool on Saturday after an initial £4m (R 70 million) fee has been agreed between the clubs.
Sky Sports report that Liverpool and Southampton have agreed a transfer fee for the 32-year-old and the Reds have also already agreed personal terms with the player.
Lambert came through Liverpool’s youth ranks before being released as a 15-year-old and is well-known as a lifelong Liverpool fan.
He has scored 14 goals for Southampton this season and assisted further 10. Overall, he has scored 117 goals in 235 for the Saints.
Lambert’s fine performances for the Saints have earned him his spot in England’s World Cup squad. His international debut only came in August 2013 when he scored immediately against Scotland.
The tall centre-forward has played in all four division of English football and is now set to play Champions League at Anfield next year.
