Overnight reports in France claim that PSG have approached Rafa Benitez regarding the manager’s job at the Parc des Princes.
The French champions are facing a mutiny, with Carlo Ancelotti determined to quit for Real Madrid.
Los Blancos have already had one request for Ancelotti’s services rejected by PSG, while Ancelotti’s personal request to leave for the Bernabeu has also been rebuffed.
But it is believed that PSG’s billionaire owners are negotiating a way to let Ancelotti go without losing face, and have begun searching for his successor.
Benitez is once again a hot managerial commodity, after the sterling job he did for Chelsea this season.
He improved a team on the slide and took them to Europa League glory, and ensured they qualified automatically for next season’s Uefa Champions League group stage.
Napoli are thought to been keen on luring Benitez to the Serie A, although they deny that they have sounded the Spaniard out about a move to Naples.
According to L’Equipe however, having all but given up on keeping Ancelotti, PSG and Rafa’s advisers have been in talks regarding the former Liverpool manager’s chances of taking the reins in the French capital.
Benitez is also the bookies early favourite to land the manager’s job at Stoke follwing the sacking of Tony Pulis, and he has gone on record to say that he would like to stay in England, where his family lives.
However, given the choice of managing a team in the Champions League with a virtually unlimited budget, or Premier League relegation candidates Stoke, who do you think Benitez would prefer?
