The global football media is reporting that Inter Milan are after Corinthians star Paulinho.
24-year-old attacking midfielder Paulinho was eye-catching at the recent Club World Cup, and Inter president Massimo Moratti has referred to him as “always useful.”
The Nerrazzuri are driving a hard bargain with Liverpool over the transfer of another Brazilian forward, Coutinho, but the Reds expect to sign the 22-year-old imminently.
That would mean a place would require filling on the Inter roster, hence the Serie A club’s interest in Paulinho.
Inter want €15 million for Coutinho from Liverpool, and La Gazzetta dello Sport havereported that they will spend the same amount on Paulinho.
However, Moratti is being cagey regarding the news that Paulinho is on the club’s wishlist.
Inter have one eye on the Uefa Financial Fair Play rules, and Moratti has hinted that splurging on Paulinho could lead them to fall foul when the money laws come into effect.
"One step at a time. We've just done this [let go of Wesley Sneijder], let's now see what we need to do,” Moratti said.
"A player like that [Paulinho], with his attributes, is always useful but the cost does come into it.”
