An African star and reported FC Barcelona target, who is only behind Paris Saint-Germain duo Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe in the 2018/19 Ligue 1 scoring chart, looks likely to be sold by his club in a bid to generate funds.
Ivory Coast international Nicolas Pepe has been in devastating form for LOSC Lille this season, netting 16 goals and registering 10 assists in 26 league matches.
As a result, the 23-year-old has become of the most sought after players in Europe, attracting reported interest from Barcelona and Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United.
Lille had previously revealed their intention to hold on to their prized asset for the 2018/19 campaign, in addition to setting their asking price for Pepe at a minimum of €50 million (R787 million). However, the French club's sporting director recently gave suitors renewed hope when he suggested the club would let him go if the price was right.
"We are not a rich club," Luis Campos told Telefoot during an interview.
"It means that if a really good proposal comes for Pepe, we have to sell him."
The Gunners have reportedly emerged as frontrunners for the striker, who has scored 31 times in 67 appearances for Lille since arriving at the club from Angers in July 2017.
