Sky Sports claims that Arsenal have approached Chelsea to enquire about the availability of their Senegalese striker, Demba Ba.
The Blues recently bought Samuel Eto’o, after manager Jose Mourinho lamented the immobility of his attack.
Ba has hardly featured under The Special One, who has used Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku as his strikers so far, with Eto’o now believed to be at the top of the pecking order.
Arsenal have been chasing a striker, and have failed to lure both Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez the Emirates.
They are believed to be inching towards the eye-catching signing of Real Madrid’s German international, Mesut Ozil, who appears to have been pushed out of the Bernabeu in the way Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder once were.
But Ozil is a luxury and a striker is a necessity for Arsenal, hence their deadline move for Ba.
Sky say that Chelsea are playing hardball with their London rivals however, and have demanded a loan fee of £3million for Ba, with the Gunners keen to pay a maximum of £1,5million.
If the Gunners are serious about their bid for Ba they may have to stump up the cash, with Napoli and Valencia both also keeping an eye on the powerful African hit-man.
