Reds See Off Oldham

Liverpool beat a hardy Oldham Athletic team 2-0 in the third of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon, as Iago Aspas got his first goal for the club.

Both goals were scored in the second-half, the second being an own goal through James Tarkowski.

In a first where Oldham showed a lot of spirit, Liverpool had few chances though Luis Alberto did force Oldham goalkeeper Mark Oxley into a good save.

Luis Alberto and Victor Moses were replaced at half-time by Lucas and Philippe Coutinho and the Reds began to up the pace of the game.

Ten minutes into the second-half Raheem Sterling set up Aspas with a good cross, and he hooked the ball into the net to give Liverpool the lead.

And with eight minutes to go, Sterling’s shot was was turned in by Tarkowski to seal the result.

Late in the match Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers’ son Anton came on as a substitute for Oldham.
