Barcelona forward Cristian Tello says that he passed up the chance to move to Liverpool.
The Reds have long been linked to the 22-year-old speed merchant, who grew up at Barca, but faces a challenge to become a regular member of their starting XI.
The arrival of Neymar from Santos at the beginning of the season meant that Tello’s outlook at Barca dimmed substantially.
But he still refuses to consider that he is not good enough to star for the Spanish champions in the future.
And so, having agreed to a new deal with the Blaugrana earlier this year, Tello did not pay attention when the Liverpool rumours resurfaced during the recent transfer window.
“I always wanted to stay here,” said Tello, whose current deal with Barca will only expire in 2018.
“The coach has confidence in me.
“I’m happy and ready to play.
“I knew that Liverpool were interested in me, but I never thought about leaving.”
