Reds Agree Deal In Principle For Aspas

Liverpool have edged closer to landing their man after revealing that they have agreed a deal in principle to sign Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas - subjust to the relevant documentation being completed.

Speculation had been linking the player with a move to Anfield since the end of the season and the Reds are now set to finalise their swoop for the 25-year-old.

Aspas will become Liverpool's second signing of the summer after they completed the free transfer of former Manchester City defender Kolo Toure.

A statement on the club's official website read, "Liverpool have agreed a deal in principle with Celta Vigo for striker Iago Aspas, subject to documentation being completed.

"Aspas scored 12 goals in 34 games in 2012-13 despite playing in a side threatened with relegation until the final day of the season.

"During the campaign he was directly involved in 51 per cent of his team's goals.

"The 25-year-old broke into the senior side at the Spanish outfit in 2009 after graduating from their youth set-up.

"Aspas can play through the middle or out wide and he could become Brendan Rodgers's second signing of the summer transfer window following a deal for Kolo Toure."
