Real Madrid have signed Brazilian international midfielder Casemiro on loan from Sao Paulo until the end of the season.
Los Blancos will have the opportunity to sign the highly-rated 20-year-old for keeps if he impresses during his loan stint at the Bernabeu.
Casemiro has already played more than 60 times for the Sao Paulo first-team, and has three senior Selecao caps to his name.
But of late he has slipped down the pecking order at Sao Paulo, where players like Denilson, Jadson, Wellington and Ganso all start before him.
Casemiro will begin his Real career with the club’s Castilla team, and will hope to play his way into contention for Jose Mourinho’s first-team squad.
Casemiro's agent Joseph Lee told Lancenet: "It's loan deal until the end of the season, with an option to buy.
"It's not that he will play for the B team, he will just acclimatise in the B team, and then will play for the A team later on.
"This is something he needs, but the offer comes for him to play for the senior team, he is not a B team player.
"He was not playing at Sao Paulo and he needs to play. The offer came, we talked with Casemiro who expressed his interest."
