Real Madrid midfielder, Xabi Alonso, is set to join Bayern Munich as reported by Spanish media.
The 32-year-old is close to completing a £4 to £8 million transfer after Bayern reportedly offered him a £8 million per year salary.
Pep Guardiola is understood to have personally called Alonso to lure him away from the Los Blancos.
Alonso arrived in 2009 from Liverpool at Bernabeu and has since played 236 games, scoring six goals and assisting further 32.
Bayern are on the hunt for a new midfielder since Javi Martinez has been ruled out with a serious injury and Alonso seems to fit their profile perfectly.
Real, meanwhile, don’t seem to block the departure although Alonso just extended his contract in February.
Alonso also announced his retirement from international football last night. He played 11 years for Spain and won 115 caps, lifting the World Cup and two European Championships.
