Radamel Falcao’s father, Radamel Garcia, has revealed Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid wanted to sign his son.
The 28-year-old ended up joining Manchester United on Deadline Day and his father has now spoken about interest from several major clubs during the transfer window.
"Juventus, Manchester City, Liverpool also approached him and Arsenal at the last minute,” he told Colombian radio as quoted by AS.
"Fortunately, he ended up at Manchester United, a great team that he has to lead forward.
"Manchester United is the most important team in England and one of the most powerful financially. Now he must perform at his best to continue winning.”
Falcao’s father also let slip his son seemingly wanted to join Real Madrid, but the club and the player couldn't agree to appropriate contract details.
"Things did not happen with Real Madrid because, if you have money and you go to the shops to buy a shirt or trousers, you have to decide if you buy it or not," he added.
"So Real Madrid opted not to do it and you can't do anything about that.
"Apart from that, I don't know. I have a feeling they wanted the player to offer himself as a gift with a number of conditions and things like that.”
