Paris Saint Germain secured a 2-1 win away to Valencia in their UEFA Champions League last 16 first-leg at the Mestalla, but their win was soured after star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic was sent off late on.
Brazilian starlet Lucas Moura had the first chance in the ninth minute when he thundered a 25-yard strike against the post.
The visitors would take the lead just a minute later though as Ezequiel Lavezzi ran through the defence before lashing his finish across Vicente Guaita and in.
Valencia were struggling to get into the game and things would only get worse in the 42nd minute as Lucas got past his defender before squaring to Javier Pastore who rifled home.
Roberto Soldado failed to take the needed touch which would have given him a chance at goal after the break while Zlatan Ibrahimovic worked the goalkeeper a minute later. The rebound fell for Lavezzi but he couldn't find the empty net.
Ibrahimovic and Lavezzi exchanged passes but Guaita came out to block the Swede's effort while the stopper denied the former AC Milan and Barcelona striker again in the 72nd minute.
Nelson Valdez hit the side netting at the other end three minutes later but Valencia would give themselves some hope in the 90th minute when Rami escaped his marker to convert a free-kick from close range.
PSG then suffered a major blow in the second minute of stoppage time when Ibrahimovic was shown a straight red card for a studs-up tackle and he will now miss the second leg, along with Marco Verratti.
