Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly looking to crush Liverpool's hopes of securing a top midfield transfer target from Bayern Munich.
The Reds strolled to the Premier League title this season, but will not rest on their laurels and have been linked with a few top stars in recent weeks as a result.
Reports suggest that Bayern midfielder Thiago Alcantara is one of their main targets for this window, but PSG are looking beat them to the finish line.
It is claimed the Ligue 1 giants are putting together a £27 million (R609 million) transfer offer, which could blow Jurgen Klopp's side out of the race.
The Reds were considered favourites to sign the former FC Barcelona midfielder, but according to Le10Sport, this might not be as easy as expected for the Premier League side, with PSG now lurking.
Klopp has already fielded questions regarding the player, to which he is quoted as saying: "Thiago Alcantara is a great player, but also a Bayern Munich player. That's actually all there is to say. There’s nothing to say!"
Although some former Reds stars, such as Didi Hamann, have backed the speculation, saying Thiago would be a strong addition to the Merseyside club's playing roster, there have been others, such as Luis Garcia, who believe current Liverpool player Naby Keita would suffer if the deal went through.
Where do you think Thiago would be a better fit, at Liverpool or PSG? Or should he stay with Bayern? Let us know in the comments section below.
