Confederations Cup
Teams: Tahiti v Nigeria
Date: 17 June 2013
Venue: Mineirao
The minnows of Tahiti will take on African champions Nigeria in their opening Group B game of the 2013 Confederations Cup on Monday.
The Oceania champions are expected to take a stern defensive approach to their games, having come into the tournament with an embarrassing 7-0 warm-up defeat to Chile's U20 side.
Nigeria, on the other hand, may have some star players in their ranks but their road to the Confederations Cup over the last few weeks has been bumpy
Coach Stephen Keshi has come under a bit of pressure following their triumph in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, with the Super Eagles winning just one of their four games following the tournament.
The coach reportedly refused to let his players drink water offered by hosts Kenya in a recent World Cup qualifier, while their preparations also suffered a blow when players initially did not travel to Brazil due to a pay dispute.
Nigeria will be looking to the like of Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses in attack as they look for a boost in confidence ahead of tough matches with Spain and Uruguay.
The team teams have never met at senior level but at the 2009 U20 World Cup in Egypt, Nigeria smashed Tahiti 5-0.
