Goals from Kevin Mirallas and Steven Naismith saw Everton come from a goal behind to beat Aston Villa 2-1 in an English Premier League game at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Trailing by a goal to nil, Roberto Martinez threw on South African Steven Pienaar who made all the difference.
Everton started the brighter of the two teams and created the first chance on goal in the third minute when Aiden McGeady let rip from just outside the box, but his effort sailed narrowly wide.
Villa, however, took the lead, very much against the run of play, in the 33rd minute when Leandro Bacuna superbly turned home a pass from Brad Guzan, 1-0.
The Toffees dominated the rest of the half, but struggled to break down a stubborn Villa defence.
The second 45 saw Everton continue where they left off with Leon Osman trying his luck from just inside the box in the 54th minute, but his shot went just wide.
Everton continued to press forward and were rewarded for their pressure in the 71st minute when Pienaar slipped Naismith through on goal and he made no mistake with a clinical finish, 1-1.
Mirallas completed the comeback seven minutes from time when he brilliantly curled home a 24-yard free-kick into the top corner, 2-1.
