Pep Guardiola was satisfied after his Bayern Munich side’s win over Barcelona last night.
What could have been an overly emotional affair for the former Barca boss was strictly business, and he was pleased to see his new team’s fitness and tactical awareness coming together in their 2-0 friendly win.
Barca were severely under strength, especially during the second-half with 11 B team players on the field, but Guardiola still believes the Spanish champions gave his side a useful test ahead of the German Super Cup against their main rivals Borussia Dortmund at the weekend.
"It was a good preparation for Borussia Dortmund," said Guardiola
"Barcelona are always a good team and they were a good test for us. We had our chances and we have to improve our finishing."
It was intriguing to see Pep come up against the team he moulded in his image so successfully, and afterwards he admitted it was a delight for him to face his former charges.
"It was a very special game for me," he said.
"I spent my whole life as a player and coach of Barcelona.
"I'm very happy now and have nothing to complain about. I have been given a very good side with Bayern."
