Bayern Munich coach, Pep Guardiola, has dismissed talks linking his central defender, Jerome Boateng, to FC Barcelona.
Spanish media had claimed the Catalan giants were eyeing Boateng as their latest edition to the defence, but Guardiola was quick to rubbish these talks.
“I am 100 per cent sure Boateng will not leave Bayern,” the Spaniard told media in a press-conference.
Boateng had been linked with a move to Camp Nou after Barcelona found it difficult to get PSG’s Marquinhos. Arsenal captain, Thomas Vermaelen, is another centre-back who is linked with a move to the Blaugrana in their attempt to strengthen their defence.
Vermaelen would be the cheaper option to Boateng with Bayern likely to ask for nothing less than €39 million, if they were to let go of the German World Cup champion.
However, Barcelona reportedly won't push for the expensive deal after they already bought Jeremy Mathieu and don’t want to risk their good relationship with the German giants.
Boateng is understood to be keen to play in Spain and Real Madrid are reportedly also watching the situation around the 25-year-old.
