Bayern Munich boss, Pep Guardiola, has dropped Mario Mandzukic from his squad for the German DFB Cup final against Borussia Dortmund.
Guardiola confirmed that Mandzukic would be fit to play but seemed annoyed with the player’s latest transfer rumours – the striker is linked with a move to Chelsea or Arsenal.
"He would have been able to play. But it is my decision and that's it," the Spaniard told reporters in his pre-mtach press conference.
Additionally Guardiola also ruled Bastian Schweinsteiger out of the squad.
"He was not able to train this week. Schweinsteiger is injured. I hope he can travel to the World Cup in Brazil. But I am no doctor,” he continued.
Guardiola has already won the European Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and the Bundesliga title in his first season in Germany, but has come under criticism since losing the Champions League semi-final 5-0 on aggregate to Real Madrid.
"I'm very proud of what we've achieved so far this season. We're ready to take on Dortmund. I'm really looking forward to this final,” Guardiola added.
His counterpart Jurgen Klopp confirmed his main striker, Robert Lewandowski, who will join Bayern next season, will be fit and ready to play.
“I expect Robert (Lewandowski) to start tomorrow,” he said.
“I don’t think it’s much of an advantage to know that Manduzukic will not be playing tomorrow.
“The DFB Cup Final is the greatest of all finals.”
