Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says his side are only focused on beating Aston Villa in a Barclays Premiership match on Saturday as they aim for the top spot on the league table.
City are currently third on the log with ten points from five games, two points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal above them. A win for the Sky Blues combined with results in other matches going their way could see them on the top of the table come the end of Saturday.
Pellegrini says that is their sole concern at the moment despite an impending UEFA Champions League clash with Bayern Munich next week Wednesday.
“I am sure nobody is thinking about Bayern Munich,” said Pellegrini.
“We are all thinking about Aston Villa.
“We know it is a strong team playing at home. We need to play a very good game if we want to win and we need to win away now.
“We have lost one away and drawn the other, for different reasons.
“It is in the past so I don't continue talking about those games, but on Saturday we have the opportunity to win against Aston Villa.
“It is very important for us to reach the first position of the table.”
City come into this game fresh of a 4-1 league win over Manchester City last weekend and a 5-0 thumping of Wigan in a Capital One Cup match in midweek.
