Former Manchester United and England star, Paul Scholes, has called Yaya Toure’s birthday row with Manchester City 'embarrassing'.
Scholes joked in his Paddy Power blog that Toure perhaps needs a 'cuddle' and blasted that such behaviour wouldn't have happened at Manchester United.
"As for Yaya Toure sulking because Manchester City didn’t mark his birthday with sufficient respect, it was comical," he wrote.
"Quite embarrassing, really. I can’t remember Manchester United players acting like this. We still came back for pre-season. Poor Yaya, maybe the big lad just needs a cuddle."
Toure seems to be keen to force a move away from Manchester City after also announcing that he would be ‘honoured’ to play for Paris Saint-Germain.
Scholes, who won 66 caps for England and went to two World Cups, then turned his focus on the Three Lions and revealed he would like to see England to “adopt Liverpool’s attacking mentality in Brazil.”
“That means certainly four, and possibly five, Liverpool players in the England starting XI against Italy on 14 June,” he added.
“South Africa in 2010 was so negative with boring draws. Nothing seemed to happen. England fans, and myself as an England fan, would rather 3‑3 games than dull 0-0 draws.
“I’d love to see Roy be brave enough to play like Liverpool.”
