Kluivert: You Get Sloppy Legs When You Meet Mandela…
Patrick Kluivert Said He Was Starstruck When He Met Nelson Mandela
FC Barcelona legend Patrick Kluivert says that the only time he ever got starstruck was when he came face to face with Nelson Mandela back in 2010.
The 41-year-old, who spent six years with the Blaugrana, was in South Africa last month with LaLiga as they handed out 2 000 balls to disadvantaged children in Johannesburg, with Kluivert looking to give back after a very successful career.
It wasn't his first time in Mzansi, though, and a few years ago he had the pleasure of meeting "Madiba", who gave him a 46664 bracelets (pictured above).
Speaking to Soccer Laduma, the former Dutch international said, "I have this bracelet (points to it) that was given to me by the great Nelson Mandela… I was very, very lucky. We went to his house and met him... he gave me this bracelet. I couldn't believe that he knew me! It's unbelievable when Nelson Mandela says, 'Hi Patrick! How're you doing?'
"You know, my knees were shaking! I had weak legs. I've never been starstruck ever, with nobody. But if you can come into Nelson Mandela's house and meet him and speak with him… Yeah, you get sloppy legs. I can tell you that, for sure."
