Ozil Slots In Smoothly

Arsenal’s record signing Mesut Ozil made a dream start to his Gunner’s career setting up the opener in a 3-1 away victory over Sunderland; with Aaron Ramsey grabbing a brace after Olivier Giroud had opened the scoring.

The German midfielder setup Olivier Giroud for the opening goal in the 10th minute and looked to have settled comfortably in the Gunner’s midfield, showing good touches and working well with his new teammates.

The home team did grab an equaliser when Craig Gardner slotted home a penalty after a foul by Koscielny on Johnson three minutes into the second-half.

Paolo Di Canio’s team did have chances to grab the lead and showed real intensity before being denied first by the linesman then wrongly by referee Martin Atkinson, who disallowed a goal by Altidore, for a foul by Sagna in the build-up.

Ramsey restored the Gunners' lead in the 67th minute with a perfectly timed volley from just inside the penalty area, assisted by Carl Jenkinson, who provided a low cutback cross.

The young midfielder then scored his second in the 76th minute, starting off a slick passing move between Ozil and Giroud and then finishing it up to grab Arsenal’s third.

Arsene Wenger will be pleased at how easily £42.4 million record signing Ozil slotted into the team and will hope to see much of the same throughout the rest of the season.
