The original Ronaldo- the first of two Ronaldos to set football pulses racing- thinks that Neymar is on a fast-track to becoming the best player in the world.
The legendary Brazilian phenomenon caused a stir on Soccer-Laduma last month when he said (not for the first time) that Lionel Messi is better than Cristiano Ronaldo.
And now the World Cup winner and former Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter and AC Milan star- who is currently studying a business degree in London- has surely raised the hackles of both La Pulga Atomica and CR7’s fanatics, who suddenly find themselves uncomfortable bed fellows.
Already a star in the making when he joined Barca from Santos, Ronaldo says Neymar has attained greater heights in his short time at the Camp Nou.
And he says that if his compatriot keeps it up at the same pace, it is inevitable that one day he will be considered the greatest player on the planet.
"He has evolved and I am sure he will evolve even more," Ronaldo told the media of Neymar on Thursday.
"If he keeps getting better he will be the best player in the world.”
"I am delighted with Neymar's start [at Barca], he's playing well and scoring and creating goals," Ronaldo added.
"He has Messi alongside him, who is out of this world. In every game he is brilliant and scores two or three goals."
Meanwhile, as a member of Brazil’s World Cup organising committee, ‘O Fenomeno’ has one eye on how his country might fare at the competition next year.
And he has warned that Neymar will surely take some stopping.
"I am sure he'll be coming to Brazil an even better player," he said.
