Just like Gareth Bale when he insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo is still top dog at Real Madrid (Read: Bale: CR7 Is The Boss), Neymar defers to Lionel Messi at Barcelona.
The Brazil superstar rivals Bale as La Liga’s newest star attraction, but he says that Messi is “above all” at the Camp Nou.
The notion of Messi and Neymar terrorising defences together excited all Barca fans and most neutrals.
But there had been some scepticism as to whether or not their abilities would dovetai, and also rumours that they did not see eye-to-eye.
However, after the opening few games of the season saw them kept apart by Barca boss ‘Tata’ Martino, the duo seemed to be finding their feet together before the international break.
And Neymar admits that he remains in thrall of La Pulga Atomica.
He says that Messi’s presence at Barca was a large part of the his rationale for joining the Spanish champions, and that he is already loving life in at the club and in the Spanish city.
"Messi is above all," Neymar said, after helping Brazil to thrash Australia at the weekend.
"I admire him, he is my idol. I respect him a lot. He has been the best player in the world four times now, and he's eager to do it again.
"My life in Barcelona is quiet. But I love how everything is going. I love the city, the club and the people I work with. Everything is perfect."
