Navas Purrs About City Strike Duo 'Negrero'

Manchester City’s mauling of Spurs last weekend shocked many people, but not their Spanish international winger, Jesus Navas.

Navas says he always knew the trophy hungry club had big results in them, twith their dangerous front line of Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo.

Aguero has been reaping plaudits thanks to his prolific goalscoring form of late, while Negredo appears to be the perfect accomplice to the Argentine.

Navas is enjoying playing in the same attacking line-up as ‘Negrero’ and reckons they are as deadly a duo as the English Premier League has to offer.

"Sergio is among the best and right now he's in really good shape. We all know about his capabilities,” he told the Daily Mirror.

"They are scoring very easily at the moment. The Premier League suits their style and that's fantastic for us.

"I'm not surprised by Negredo because I already knew how good he was. He has always loved contact with defenders, so this is the perfect league for him, in my opinion."

Navas himself book-ended City’s win over Spurs with his own brace of goals, and he is certainly showing the attacking threat that he is renowned for.

He is respected for his ability to provide goal chances from the wing, but is elated to have proven that scoring is also part of his impressive repertoire.

"On a personal level, this was my best game for sure. Scoring twice and also claiming an assist,” he said.

"I've always been known more for giving assists rather than scoring but, of course, I enjoy scoring goals too. If I can score more here, then that would be great.

"I like making other people happy. That's why I've always been known for assists, but if I score more, then it helps."
