Genoa 0-2 Napoli
Goran Pandev struck twice grabbing his first goals of the season as Napoli went back to the top of the Serie A table with their 2-0 win at Genoa.
Pandev scored the opening goal on 14 minutes after intercepting Jurai Kucka's sloppy back pass before beating Mattia Perin from the edge of the area.
The Macedonia international then gave his side a two goal 25 minutes in, although this time it was the creativity of Lorenzo Insigne setting him up.
Insigne's well-disguised pass gave the striker enough room to shoot from 20 yards out and give Napoli all the breathing space needed to see out till the final whistle.
Napoli keeper Pepe Reina was called into action though as the home side pressed for a goal, plucking an Ioannis Fetfatzidis strike out of the top corner and blocking Alberto Gilardino at close quarters in late in the game.
Rafa Benitez’s men are now one point ahead of AS Roma on top of the Serie A table temporarily until the Rome club play on Sunday.
AC Milan 1-0 Sampdoria
Valter Birsa scored his first Milan goal after some good work by Robinho, to hand the Rossoneri a much needed win at the San Siro.
The teams went in level at the break after an uneventful first 45 minutes, but the hosts caught their opponents’ out seconds after the second-half kicked off, with the Slovenian firing a low drive past Junior Da Costa from just outside the box.
The result lifts Massimiliano Allegri's men into eighth place, while at the same time easing some of the pressure on the mangers shoulders.
The home side were the better of the two teams and should have added to their lead when Robinho squandered an opportunity from close range, but one goal was enough to earn a second win of the new season.
