Napoli have completed the signing of Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid in a deal reportedly worth 40 million euros.
The Partenopei had money to burn in pursuit of a new striker following the departure of star attacker Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain.
New boss Rafa Benitez made Higuain his main target, despite reported interest from Arsenal, and they have now completed the transfer.
Club's president Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed the news earlier today via his official Twitter page, stating, "This morning we have signed the contract with Higuain."
Real Madrid soon followed, confirmed that Higuain had completed his move to Italy and they wished him well going forward.
"Real Madrid announce that the player Gonzalo Higuain has been transferred to Napoli," read a statement on the club's official website. "The club want to show their appreciation for all his years of dedication and professionalism and wish him luck in this new stage."
