Manchester United manager David Moyes admits striker Wayne Rooney ‘is in great physical shape’, but he is not yet sure when he will make his return to the side.
Rooney has missed United’s recent league game’s due to a head cut which he suffered in an accidental training ground collision with Phil Jones.
Rooney missed United’s trip to Liverpool which they lost 1-0 and England’s recent World Cup qualifiers.
Moyes says the player is looking good, but he is not sure when he will be back in action.
“He is in great physical shape,” said Moyes.
“Obviously he has a cut right in the middle of his forehead which could split because the skin is very thin.
“But he has had his stitches out and it has knitted. We just have to see what the level of risk is with his injury."
United are set to take on Crystal Palace today in a Barclays Premiership match
Moyes also has doubts over Rafael and Phil Jones, who have hamstring and ankle problems respectively.
