Jose Mourinho will not regard his side as Champions League favourites in any sense unless the Blues make the competitions quarter final.
Despite already losing twice to Basel this campaign, The Blues have already qualified for the knockout stage. But The Special One rates Bayern, Barca and Real as clear favourites to win the title this season.
However, he told in his pre-match press conference: “If we reach the quarter-final – I always said every team in the quarter-final has the chance to win it. But in my analysis, we are not considered one of the favourites to win it.
“I think our chance this season are not comparable with the chance other clubs have.
“Bayern is a favourite. They are the European champions, a top club, with same players, same team, and unbelievable stability. They won last year, were in the final the year before, and were in another final in 2010.
“Then you have Barcelona, and Real Madrid. These three teams are clearly, in terms of potential and responsibilities, in front.
“But others are strong. City, United, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea. When they reach the last eight, anything can happen.”
Mourinho’s Chelsea will face Steaua Bucharest tomorrow at Stamford Bridge and potentially need a win to secure the top Group E spot.
