Milan Stave Off Siena Fightback

AC Milan continued their assault on the top six of the Serie A as they beat last-place Siena 2-1 at the San Siro on Sunday.

Bojan Krkic and Giampaolo Pazzini struck in the second half and Michele Paolucci scored late on the hosts saw the game out with their advanatage intact.

The win saw the Rossoneri move within five points of the Champions League spots as they continue their tremendous run of form.

Milan did not quite find their feet in the first half and their only real chances came through young superstar Stephan El Shaarawy.

El Shaarawy evaded the attentions of two defenders before forcing the keeper into a 14th minute save and then missed the target later in the half.

Bojan appeared off the bench and made an almost immediate impact as he headed in Kevin Prince Boateng's cross.

Milan endeavoured to make the game safe after their 67th minute opener and they achieved that with 10 minutes to go.

After Pazzini was felled in the box by Felipe the Italy international picked himself up before planting the ball in the top corner.

The game was not over as the hosts conceded in the 87th minute when Paolucci got his head on the end of Angelo's cross.

Milan saw out the rest of the game by getting bodies behind the ball and defending their goal against a team desperate to make up ground on the teams above them.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan were dealt a huge blow in their quest to solidify themselves in the top three as Udinese thumped them 3-0.

The first half was an even affair with Antonio Di Natale rattling the cross bar with a shot after Rodrigo Palacio’s penalty appeals at the other end had been dismissed.

Di Natale scored the opener in the 63rd minute at the Stadio Friuli with a well weighted shot that flew into the bottom corner.

Juan Jesus was then sent off for the visitors only two minutes later after being shown a second yellow card.

The Bianconeri were further in front not long afterwards with Luis Muriel getting the all-important second.

In the 79th minute Di Natale wrapped up the win when he met Giovanni Pasquale's low cross to bag his 12th of the season.
