Barcelona skipper, Carles Puyol, says that AC Milan are his “second team”, but that reports he could quit the Camp Nou for the San Siro are fictitious.
Catalonia was astir earlier this week, after local television show ‘La Porteria’ reported that 34-year-old Barca legend Puyol has decided to jump ship to Milan.
As crazy as the story seemed, it took some panicked fans in, who could not bear the thought of Barca’s rugged skipper abandoning the team just as it is shaking on its foundations.
But Puyol, who is currently recovering from a knee operation which cut short his season, has categorically dismissed the notion that he is joining Milan, even though he has a soft spot for the Rossoneri.
"All the information that is coming out is false,” Puyol said.
“I am just focused on recovering well and being at my best for next season.”
"My second team is Milan,” the Spanish international stopper added.
“I always want them to win, except when they play against us.
“I have never hidden that I would have liked to play here, but now I am getting old.
“I know for sure I will retire at Barca. But I will always be a Milan fan.”
