Barcelona star Lionel Messi admits that their unbeaten run couldn't continue forever and played down the significance of their shock 3-2 loss to Real Sociedad on Saturday.
The four-time Ballon d'Or winner opened the scoring on the night, but Philippe Montanier's men recorded a stunning comeback to sink the Blaugrana.
"Losing a game had to come at some point," said Messi, who has scored in 10 consecutive league games.
"We have to pick ourselves up immediately because of the cup match coming up."
Pedro, who also scored on the night, believes that the red card for Gerard Pique was the game changer, but was also quick to shift focus to their next match.
"Pique’s red card conditioned the match, because it was a (tackle) that wasn't dangerous. On Thursday, we simply cannot fail," he said.
The Catalans will travel to Malaga in midweek for their Copa del Rey quarter-final.
