Lionel Messi has cast his Barcelona future in doubt after criticising the club’s Vice President Javier Faus.
The Argentine superstar was speaking to Catalan radio station RAC-1 after Faus had stated that he saw no reason to extend Messi's contract and increase his salary, given that last year it had been extended until 2018 which included a substantial pay rise.
The four-time Ballon D'Or winner then went on to blast Faus and said he ‘doesn’t know about football’.
"Barcelona is the best club in the world and should be represented by the best board members too," he said.
"Senor Faus is someone who doesn't know anything about football and wants to manage Barcelona like a business, which it is not.”
"Besides, I would remind him that neither I nor anyone from my camp has asked for any wage increase and he knows that very well."
The interview appears to have thrown the La Liga leaders into a crisis and increased fears that Messi could be heading for an exit from the Catalan giants.
