The Albiceleste hosted the Mexicans at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas on Wednesday morning, where they got off to a fantastic start in the second leg of the Copa adidas 2018.
Inter forward Icardi broke his duck for his country just two minutes into the clash, after he was played in behind the Mexico defence by Erik Lamela.
The lethal hitman has proven himself at club level so far in his career, and will have been delighted to get off the mark for his nation.
The match was fairly even for the rest of the first half, though Argentina, inspired by performances from the likes of Icardi, Roberto Pereyra and Lamela, looked the stronger side.
The second half brought about a host of changes for both teams, which naturally disrupted the flow of the game for the first 15 minutes after the break.
Argentina were still enjoying most of the possession, but came close to conceding a penalty kick on 63 minutes when Pereyra, who was already on a yellow card, went through the back of Martin in the box.
The match official waved play on, however, much to the relief of the Watford winger and his international colleagues.
Mexico grew into the clash as time went on, playing a higher line of defence and using the ball well outside the Argentina danger area.
With three minutes to go, though, Dybala scored his first goal for Argentina with a tidy finish, after Giovanni Simeone set him up inside the box.
Argentina lifted the Copa adidas 2018, which was played over two legs against Mexico, after already beating their rivals 2-0 in the first leg.
