Juan Mata has expressed his delight to have made the move to Manchester United from Chelsea for the club’s record fee of £37.1 million.
The Spanish playmaker completed his medical on Saturday and was officially announced as a Manchester United player after arriving in Manchester on a helicopter.
The former Valencia attacking midfielder believes that he has come to the right club and that he was prepared for the new challenge.
“I am thrilled to be joining United. I have enjoyed some very happy years at Chelsea but the time has come for a new challenge,” said Mata, who played 135 times for Chelsea and scored 32 goals after joining from Valencia in 2011.
“United is the perfect place for me and I am excited at the chance I have to be part of the next phase in the club’s history.”
“Chelsea is a top club and I have many friends there but you cannot turn down the chance to join Manchester United. I look forward to helping the manager and the team be successful in the coming years,” he told manutd.com
