As indicated in previous reports, Manchester United have agreed terms with Juan Mata on a four-and-half year contract, but the Spaniard has been left frustrated by Chelsea’s reluctance to finalise his move.
It’s believed that Jose Mourinho will only finally sanction the transfer once the signing of Basel winger, Mohamed Salah, has been secured.
Chelsea have already reported they had agreed a fee with the Swiss club for Salah, but Brendan Rodgers told talkSPORT this morning that Liverpool are still in the race to sign the 21-year-old.
Liverpool have been scouting the ‘Egyptian Messi’ for several months, but Mourinho has been impressed with Salah since he scored in both Champions League group stage matches against the Blues.
Mata, meanwhile, had been due to undergo a medical in Manchester on Thursday already, but it seems to be delayed due Chelsea’s reluctance to push the deal through.
Despite the hold up, Man United seem to be calm of securing their record signing, possibly before the end of the day, and Juan Mata is said to be determind to become a United player as soon as possible.
