Martino: Neymar Injury Not So Bad

Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino is anxiously awaiting news on the extent of the injury that striker Neymar had picked up in Thursday’s 2-0 Copa del Rey win at Getafe.

The Brazilian wonder-kid rolled his ankle in the 22nd minute of the Catalan side’s victory, which sees them through to the quarter-finals with a 6-0 aggregate.

The club’s official statement initially claimed that the player had sprained his peroneal tendon, but the length of his recovery would only be confirmed after Friday’s scan.

Neymar could be out for three to four weeks and could miss the crunch Champions League last-16 clash against Manchester City.

Martino however believes that the injury is not a bad as first thought and is hoping that the young forward can make a quicker than expected recovery.

"The situation didn't look good when you saw it happen and you thought he might be out for a while but thank God it is not as serious as it appeared and he'll be back playing soon,” the Barca boss said.

"The doctors after the game have said it is not so bad and so if tests confirm it then it is not something serious."
