Barcelona coach, Gerardo Martino, believes his side still has it in their own hands whether they will win the La Liga title or not.
The Blaugrana have slipped to second place for the first time after 59 games or 533 days on top and are now chasing Atletico Madrid, who moved to the summit of the league for the first time in 18 years.
Martino said in his pre-match conference for Barcelona’s Copa del Rey semi-final that his side won’t drop points again and have learned from their mistakes.
“I don’t think we’ll stumble again,” the Barcelona coach said.
“Even though we’re second in the League it’s in our hands.”
The 51-yearold confirmed his coaching staff and the players spoke about their mistakes and is pleased the next game to put things right comes already on Wednesday.
“We always talk with the players and certainly after a game as unusual as Saturday’s,” Martino continued.
“We discussed our mistakes. They get harder to recover as we play more games.
“But whenever there is a loss the next game in an opportunity to put things right.”
The Barcelona coach also confirmed that he called all 22 players available into the match squad for the Copa del Rey clash with Real Sociedad, due to the importance of the match.
“I have named all 22 players because of the importance of the match,” Martino added.
“And because I still haven’t decided who will play.
“I hope we get a big crowd at Camp Nou.
“It’s crucial we keep a clean sheet at home. It’s almost as good as a win, certainly with the attack we have.”
Martino will be pleased that his Brazil forward, Neymar Jr, has started to practice again and could soon be available to help the defending champions to reclaim the La Liga lead.
