Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino has hailed the growing partnership between star attackers Lionel Messi and Neymar following their 7-1 triumph over Thailand XI in a preseason friendly on Wednesday.
The Brazilian starlet notched his first goal for his new club by scoring the opener while Lionel Messi scored twice, but both were heavily involved in attack throughout the game.
Martino was pleased with what he has seen so far, even though his side was up against significantly weaker opposition.
"Messi and Neymar combined well and played in different areas of the pitch," he told reporters after the match.
"The connection between Neymar and Leo was the most interesting thing about the game and they played as well as we expected. They combined well and scored goals, but they also combined with other players, which is what you expect at this level.
"Regardless of the quality of the opposition, we are showing positive signs in recovering the ball, pressing high up the pitch and attacking quickly, which pleased me a lot.
"That was much more encouraging than scoring a lot of goals, which was normal considering the difference in quality between us and our opponents."
