Barcelona coach, Gerardo Martino, has praised his side’s 6-1 Champions League win over Celtic and was particularly happy with Barca’s movement and hard work rate.
“I think it’s probably the most complete match we have played in the four months that I have been here,” the Barca coach said in his post-match press conference.
“We moved the ball well and we worked hard, won the ball back well with a lot of intensity.
“We pressured a lot, especially in the forward areas und barely gave the opposition anything.”
Martino warned his players around Brazilian youngster Neymar, who scored his first Champions League goal and hat-trick in Europe, to maintain this level of play and avoid costly errors in the knockout phase.
“We must maintain this level of play in the last-16 when it’s a match that lasts 180 minutes with no room for errors. Because errors mean you are out of the competition.
“You have to play well, but you also have to make few mistakes.”
The 6-1 proved that Barca has fully recovered from the shock loss against Serero's Ajax Amsterdam and will even be stronger when their Argentine superstar, Lionel Messi, returns in the new year.
“We are very happy with Messi’s recovery, he is in the final face of his recovery," the Argentine coach said.
“We are hoping that we have him ready and available from the very start of the new year.”
Barcelona finished on top of Group H and will be hoping to avoid strong sides like Arsenal or Manchester City in Monday’s last-16 draw.
