Controversial Italian striker Mario Balotelli, who came through the ranks at Inter Milan, has revealed what former Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic used to tell him at training.
The 29-year-old Brescia forward was introduced to the world as a 16-year-old at the Nerazzurri, where he would come up against another strong personality in Ibrahimovic in training every day.
Balotelli and the Swede were known to be friendly with each other, but with the former Paris Saint-Germain striker being the senior, he has naturally been the more dominant figure in their friendship.
When he went live on Instagram recently, the Italian revealed that Ibrahimovic would often tell him at training that he is not good enough to be a professional footballer.
"When I arrived to Inter's senior squad, I was 16," Balotelli said on Instagram Live.
"One day he stopped by and said: 'You think you can play here? Do today's training and then you don't play again.'
"Every time on the pitch he told me 'you are no good, forget about football and study'."
Balotelli spent three years in Inter's senior side between 2007 and 2010, while Ibrahimovic represented the Italian giants from 2006 to 2009.
