New Italian coach Antonio Conte has opted not to pick Mario Balotelli for his first national squad.
Balotelli is suspended for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Norway on September 9th, but would have been eligible to play against the Netherlands in a friendly five days earlier.
Balotelli is suspended because he picked up a yellow card at the World Cup against Uruguay, his second of the tournament.
Stephan El Shanaawy, who last played for the Azurri at the 2013 Confederations Cup, has been recalled to the squad instead.
Balotelli is set to make his Liverpool debut on Sunday, when the Reds take on Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
