Italy super star Claudio Marchisio will be on the sidelines for almost a fortnight after injuring his hip in training.
The Juventus midfielder may welcome the chance to take a break from the public eye after a horrendous miss in his side’s most recent outing.
Marchisio was guilty of missing an open goal as the Serie A champions fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Lazio in the Coppa Italia earlier this week.
The player underwent a scan after the training injury, and although initially thought to be serious the prognosis was good.
"Claudio Marchisio has undergone an MRI scan after taking a knock to his left hip during yesterday's training session in Vinovo," a statement on the club's website reads.
"The scan, carried out by Professor Carlo Faletti, ruled out any serious injuries and instead revealed a strain in the midfielder's obturator externus muscle.
"Marchisio is expected to be out of action for between seven and 10 days."
Marchisio has made 18 Serie A appearances this season and has netted four goals during that time.
